Thanksgiving

There is much I am thankful for.....family, friends, my health...none of them are perfect but I appreciate all that I have.

In my creative life, I am thankful for The Quiltart list www.quiltart.com
Karey Bresenhan and the people at Quilts, Inc.
Desert Quilters of Nevada and the sub groups
Rainbow and Art Quilts, etc.
Ami Simms and the Alzheimer's Project

Each of these groups of people have changed my ceative life in so many ways. They have exposed me to ideas and have given me opportunities I would have never have known about with out their sharing and caring. They have introduced me to other creative souls.

I have a lot to be thankful for.

The Alzheimer's Project

Ami Simms http://www.amisimms.com has been raising money for Alzheimer's research. More than $110,000 to date. She curated an exhibit that is touring the country to raise awareness (and money) for research. If the exhibit comes to a location near you, go see it...and/or buy the book or CD. She also sponsors an auction each month of small quilts , less than 9" x 12". Since they fit in a Priority mail envelope from the USPS, she calls the project Priority: Alzheimer's Quilts.

While a large number of quilters were in Houston the past week at Festival, the annual show and place to be, us stay at home souls made 69 more little Priority Quilts. They will go on sale in the coming months. For a preview showing go to http://dianedidit.com/stayathome.html

I am proud to be a small part of this project...My little quilts have raised over $1000 so far and I will do more.

Quilting

I am a beginning quilter...I begin a lot of things that I don't finish...... As part of organizing the studio, I decided to do a paper inventory of unfinished projects...I stopped counting at 100! and that is not counting projects that I have pulled the fabric for or the three tubs of 30"s fabric that have a number of started tops that a friend and I were working on for an exhibit before she died....and I know there are more! A few I will probably never finish and might just give away "as is" but most of then are good/usable pieces, for gifts if nothing else (baby quilts and table runners).....there are three quilts that just need to be bound and signed....20 pieces are basted and a couple of more have been mated with their backs and are ready to baste.....most are crib size or wall pieces but there are king size quilts in the piles too. There are also three quilts that I am finishing for my daughter-in-law..... I got this far behind once before and I put on a quilting marathon and did finish around 80 pieces one year....maybe it is time to do that again.... Just felt a need to share
