Looking Foreward-Looking Back

I keep a creative log each year. Each month I record my art/quilting/other accomplishments. 2007 was not the best of years but still there is a lot that I have accomplished, that I am pleased to look back upon, besides the joys that family and friends bring.

I was again "published". The Book Alzheimer's:Forgetting Piece By Piece, edited by Ami Simms came out, and my piece that is part of the traveling exhibit is featured on Page 68-69. The exhibit is still traveling...it is worth experiencing if it comes to a venue near you. I was the on site coordinator for the exhibit at the Denver Mancuso Brothers Show and at Road to California. I also worked the exhibit at the NQA show in Columbus Ohio. I made/donated 18 more Priority Quilts for the monthly online auction that raises money for Alzheimer's research. To date I am just short of $2000 raised from my little pieces of art. I won a Bernina sewing machine in the drawing that takes place each year from the participants....that was quite a surprise! It is a wonderful machine! I was interviewed for the Save Our Stories project...it can be read at

Just type in Ann Louise Mullard-Pugh

My friends and I made 140 postcards in Las Vegas that were distributed to the Veterans Hospitals. Many thanks to my friends that helped. This was part of a a national project.

I won several ribbons at the Desert Quilters annual show, won a cash award in the Guild Challenge, and participated in an on line quilt swap.

I had two pieces in the Sacred Threads Exhibit. My 2007 Journal Quilt was at Festival in Houston as well as the journal quilt that appeared in Creative Quilting-The Journal Quilt Project, edited by Karey Patterson Bresenhan. One of my pieces is in the online exhibit at the Quiltart site, in the Flower Power exhibit. There is a chance that the piece will travel this year.

Looking at the list, it will be quite a challenge to top this list of accomplishments in 2008!

Why am I sharing this list with you? It is to remind me and everyone reading this blog that one never know what the outcome of any action will be but if you don't try/act, it is guarnteed that no entry will be accepted/nothing worth mentioning will happen. The encouragement of friends and family help make it all happen.

It will be interesting to see just how the year goes...Life is a Journey...Life is an adventure!

Christmas is a comming....

The tree is up,the Christmas quilts are hung, the miniature village is assembled (eleven houses....four quilt shops, two wineries, a stationary store, an apothecary shop, a theater, a tea shop and my witches house at the edge of town, plus an animal rescue area). We decided not to put the outside decorations up this year......

Wed, twenty some of my friends will assemble at our home for our annual party. We all share a love of quilting , in it's many forms. We are a very diverse group but we all get along well and some of us have been together forever! Anyone still needing directions, email me at cronelv@pughlitzer.com

Still working on presents.....and on the last three of six entries for the Desert Quilters Quilt Show Feb 8-10, 2008.

I finally got the blog address straightened out...now to learn how to attach pictures.....

Thanksgiving

There is much I am thankful for.....family, friends, my health...none of them are perfect but I appreciate all that I have.

In my creative life, I am thankful for The Quiltart list www.quiltart.com
Karey Bresenhan and the people at Quilts, Inc.
Desert Quilters of Nevada and the sub groups
Rainbow and Art Quilts, etc.
Ami Simms and the Alzheimer's Project

Each of these groups of people have changed my ceative life in so many ways. They have exposed me to ideas and have given me opportunities I would have never have known about with out their sharing and caring. They have introduced me to other creative souls.

I have a lot to be thankful for.

The Alzheimer's Project

Ami Simms http://www.amisimms.com has been raising money for Alzheimer's research. More than $110,000 to date. She curated an exhibit that is touring the country to raise awareness (and money) for research. If the exhibit comes to a location near you, go see it...and/or buy the book or CD. She also sponsors an auction each month of small quilts , less than 9" x 12". Since they fit in a Priority mail envelope from the USPS, she calls the project Priority: Alzheimer's Quilts.

While a large number of quilters were in Houston the past week at Festival, the annual show and place to be, us stay at home souls made 69 more little Priority Quilts. They will go on sale in the coming months. For a preview showing go to http://dianedidit.com/stayathome.html

I am proud to be a small part of this project...My little quilts have raised over $1000 so far and I will do more.

Quilting

I am a beginning quilter...I begin a lot of things that I don't finish...... As part of organizing the studio, I decided to do a paper inventory of unfinished projects...I stopped counting at 100! and that is not counting projects that I have pulled the fabric for or the three tubs of 30"s fabric that have a number of started tops that a friend and I were working on for an exhibit before she died....and I know there are more! A few I will probably never finish and might just give away "as is" but most of then are good/usable pieces, for gifts if nothing else (baby quilts and table runners).....there are three quilts that just need to be bound and signed....20 pieces are basted and a couple of more have been mated with their backs and are ready to baste.....most are crib size or wall pieces but there are king size quilts in the piles too. There are also three quilts that I am finishing for my daughter-in-law..... I got this far behind once before and I put on a quilting marathon and did finish around 80 pieces one year....maybe it is time to do that again.... Just felt a need to share

Life is a Journey Life is an Adventure

Today is the first day, etc....With a lot of help from my son Erik, I have a blog! My hope is to share most of my art, some of my life and not bore you in the process. In the next few days/weeks I hope to share some of the past art. I don't know how often I will post yet but I am sure a rhythm will establish itself.

Thank you for stopping by and being patient while I try to figure this out.
